Depart early in the morning and drive to the countryside of Cotswold. Our first stop will be the village of Bibury, an attractive setting along the River Coln and a backdrop for films, including Stardust and Bridget Jones’s Diary. Stroll along the beautiful  cottages of Arlington Row, the quaint group of weaver’s cottages dating back to the 16th century. Then it’s on to Bourton on-the-Water, known as the ‘Venice of Cotswold’ and regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in England with its gorgeous bridges that cross the River Windrush. Visit the Model Village is a must, and if you are a car enthusiast, then a visit to the Motoring Museum is well worth it (entrances not included). We head towards the historic city of Oxford, which revolves around its prestigious university, established in the 12th century. The architecture of its 38 Colleges in the city’s medieval centre led poet Matthew Arnold to nickname it the ‘City of Dreaming Spires’. University College and Magdalen College is off the High Street. Enjoy your free time here before heading back to London.
